In the late 1970s, Cherrie brought the “new craze” of Aerobic Dancing (aerobics) to Omaha teaching several classes a week and grew that business to a point where she employed several instructors teaching classes spanning across the entire Nebraska and Iowa region. You might remember her own aerobic dance segment on the KETV “Good Morning Show” in which she appeared for 6 years. The empire that is now known as The Cherrie Anderson School of Music And Dance has become a beloved academy for young talent in Omaha and surrounding areas spanning across generations. Cherrie built and grew the business over several years sharing her love of dance with thousands of students. She celebrated each dancer with an end of the year extravaganza at various theatres across Omaha including the Orpheum Theatre.
Cherrie’s Legacy
Her mission statement still is held by the school: To provide students of all ages with the skills they need to enjoy music and dance for a lifetime. Cherrie married Roger Anderson on June 3rd, 1970. They had 3 children Season, Adam, and Colt. Cherrie above everything valued family (both immediate and extended), and friends.
We will remember Cherrie as a confident, hardworking, and powerful businesswoman who showed the world that you can do it all. She was a true champion of women. She was an inspiration to all who she came in contact with and exuded a spirit all her own. Cherrie was beautiful inside and out. She had a glow that put everyone at ease and made them feel special. Through her, we learned so many valuable life lessons and will carry them on as part of her legacy.
What we will remember most about Cherrie is her kind and loving spirit, her passion for dance and music, her endless compliments, her ability to throw a killer party bringing everyone together, and decorating to the nines for every holiday. While the world won’t be the same without Cherrie, we are comforted knowing she is watching over us while dancing with the angels in heaven.
